A priority fee can improve scheduling priority; it cannot guarantee a successful transaction.
What the fee pays for
Solana transactions pay a base fee and may include a prioritisation fee. The priority component is calculated from the requested compute-unit limit and the compute-unit price. Increasing a budget blindly can increase costs without making the intended action succeed.
Why a failed transaction can still cost money
An instruction can fail after the network has processed the transaction. Fees can still be charged even though the intended swap or transfer did not complete. A reliable interface distinguishes transaction submission, confirmation and the success of the instructions inside it.
Read the full estimate
A wallet’s estimate may include more than the network fee, such as an account-creation deposit or an application’s separate charge. Identify each line item. In a swap, also inspect the minimum amount received, token address and route. A low network fee does not mean the total trade has low cost.
A practical troubleshooting order
First inspect the error and simulation result. Then check balances, required accounts and whether the quote has expired. Only after understanding the failure should you reconsider fee settings. Repeatedly resubmitting a transaction without understanding it is not a latency strategy. Never give a support account your private key to investigate a failed transaction.
